Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio Elected As New Pope Francis

Earlier this evening, the Catholic community finally got a new Pope. 76-year-old Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Buenos Aries in Argentina has been named the 266th Pope. He's the first Latin-American Pope in the history of the Catholic Church, becoming the first non-European pontiff in nearly 1,300 years.

He goes by the Papal name - Pope Francis 1. Cardinal Bergoglio who was ordained for the Jesuits on Dec. 13, 1969, was the archbishop of Buenos Aires, Argentina, before his election into office to lead the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics.
Long live the new Pope....
