Oprah Winfrey Donates $12 Million To Washington, D.c. Museum

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey has donated $12 million (£7.7 million) to the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

The star's gift will help cover the costs of the building, which is currently under construction and due to open in 2015. And as a result of the 59 year old's generosity, bosses will name the the site's 350-seat theatre in her honour.

Oprah, who has been on the museum's advisory council for nearly a decade, previously gave a $1 million (£645,161) cheque to the organisation in 2007. Well done, good stuff.
