Britain's finest athletes swapped their gym kits for their red carpet best at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards 2012 held last night at the ExCeL Centre in London, where Kate Middleton made her return to the limelight for the first time since leaving King Edward VII's Hospital in London on December 6 after being treated for severe morning sickness.
