NB Inspiration: Bend But Don't Break, The Jesus' Experience

The original story was sent in by a friend, Tracy, have done a post on it before but I think it's worth sharing again as there are many sides to it. Here is another side of it, Bend but don't break; The Jesus' Experience.

One of my fondest memories as a child is going by the river and sitting idly on the bank. There I would enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the water rush downstream, and listen to the chirps of birds and the rustling of leaves in the trees. I would also watch the bamboo trees bend under pressure from the wind and watch them return gracefully to their upright or original position after the wind had died down.

When I think about the bamboo tree's ability to bounce back or return to its original position, the word resilience comes to mind. When used in reference to a person this word means

Kanye West Confirms New Single Titled 'I Am a God'

 

 
Kanye West is very well known for his inflated outbursts and confident sense of self, but it appears the rapper has reached new egotistical heights by calling his latest single I am a God.

It was originally rumoured that a whole album bearing the holy name was set for release. However, an industry insider has since dismissed the claims, saying instead that it would serve as the title for his forthcoming track.
Confirming the name of the song to the Huffington Post, a source from West's camp added: "We would never be so presumptuous or sacrilegious to call ourselves the supreme being."

Whatever it’s called, the album will be his first release since his 2011 collaboration with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne. Clearly not content with being a king, now West has his sights set even higher. In my opinion, he's certainly losing it. I wonder what kind of message would such a tittle carry?

Pope Washes Feet Of 12 Young Offenders In Prison - In Traditional Easter Ritual

Pope Francis yesterday washed and kissed the feet of 12 young offenders at a Rome detention centre  – and for the first time included two women in the traditional Easter ritual.

The pontiff travelled to Casal del Marmo prison for the Holy Thursday Mass commemorating Jesus’s gesture of humility towards his apostles the night before he was crucified.


While Pope Francis, 76, included women in the rite when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires, it was the first time women had taken part in a papal Holy Thursday service – and the first time in living memory that it was not held either in St Peter’s Basilica or the Basilica of St John Lateran, the papal cathedral church in the Vatican CIty.

Angelina Jolie has put to rest speculation that she and Brad Pitt married in secret – rumors sparked after she wore a simple gold band instead of her lavish Robert Procop diamond engagement ring on a visit to Africa this week.

In a video posted on TMZ, the actress was asked by reporters on arrival to Los Angeles whether the gold ring meant that her and long-term partner Brad, 49, had married, she responded with a firm 'no'.

Bob Manuel Udokwu Signs N20Million Ambassadorial Contract With South Africa's Don Morris Wine

Ace Nigerian actor Bob Manuel Udokwu has signed a two-year contract with South Africa's Don Morris brand of Wines. 

The actor - who is also senior special adviser to Anambra State Governor Peter Obi on Creative Media - was unveiled as the brand ambassador for Don Morris Wines on March 5, 2013. The unveiling ceremony saw the Director General of NAFDAC, Paul Ohri chaired as the special guest of honour. His Primary role is to promote the Don Morris brand beyond boundaries.

Apart from the N20million monetary benefit, he also got a new KIA SUV Sportage exclusively branded for him, a visit to the Don Morris' Roodezandt Winery in Robertson town, South Africa to observe the procedure and mechanisms through which the products are made, as well
a steady supply of Don Morris Wines to the actor through out his tenure. 

Friends and colleagues of the actor including Ejike Asiegbu, Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi, Oge Okoye, Ejike Metusela, Chidi Nwokeabia,  Chuks of Kasvid Productions, Jennifer Eliogwu, Andy Chukwu, and Tai Emeka Obasi were present at the unveiling to celebrate with him.

Oscar Pistorius Granted Permission To Travel Out Of South Africa To Compete

Pistorius will be able to travel out of the country to compete, the court ruled on Thursday afternoon, and he has also been freed from supervision, meaning he can regain a measure of privacy. 

Lawyers for the Olympic and Paralympic athlete had appealed against some of his bail restrictions on Thursday, saying he might eventually need to return to track competition to earn money.
They argued their client, who is charged with premeditated murder after shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp dead on 14 Februrary, was being treated as a flight risk even though a magistrate ruled last month that he was not when he released the double-amputee runner on bail.

Pistorius was not insensitive to the seriousness of the charges against him, defence advocate Barry Roux argued, and did not want to "jump on a plane and travel outside this country" or have "a nice holiday in Mauritius". But if the opportunity arose to compete, he said, Pistorius would want to travel "under controlled circumstances".

Gorgeous footballer David Beckham flashed a cheeky smile as he showed off one of his many tattoos on his recent trip to China as the ambassador to the Chinese Super League.

The footballer, who currently plays for Paris St Germain, was giving a talk at Peking University over the weekend when one of the students, asked to see his Chinese inking.
He happily obliged by pulling up his shirt to reveal his sexy body.

Beyoncé To Headline Gucci's Chime For Change Concert In London This Summer

Beyoncé will headline a concert for Gucci's Chime For Change in London this summer.
The charity's ambassador Salma Hayek Pinault with Mariane Pearl, John Legend and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy gave the news during a press conference at the Soho Hotel yesterday morning.

Chime For Change, the recently launched global campaign founded by Gucci, serves to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment and has the support of some of Hollywood's leading figures.
The singer - who is the co-founder of Chime For Change and the concert creative director - will take to the stage on 1 June 2013 to raise money for the female empowerment charity.
The event will be broadcast globally, and will also feature sets from Florence + The Machine, Ellie Goulding, Iggy Azalea, John Legend, Rita Ora, Timbaland and Laura Pausini.

The concert, called The Sound Of Change Live, will also show short inspirations films and stories highlighting women's issues around the world.

Baby Survived Without Amniotic Fluid: Meet Alexander Umeh at Six-Month-Old

 

You all remember this story featured here last year when I first launched this blog? If you haven't read about it, please click Here to see it. 
Well, I have been following the growth of this miracle child Alexander, and am so amazed what a wonder he has become. Alex just turned six months yesterday. He was born on 21 September 2012.

For a baby who thrived inside a womb for 15weeks without amniotic fluid. The doctors said that he will not survive at birth because of the damage that would cause on his lungs. Looking at him now, shows you that when God does something, it is COMPLETE and TOTAL.

Am so happy for him and I know he will continue to grow into a prefect man. See more photos after the cut....

Renowned Nigerian Novelist Professor Chinua Achebe Dies Aged 82

Renowned Nigerian Novelist Professor Chinua Achebe, seen by millions as the father of African literature, has died at the age of 82. According to reports, he died following an illness and hospital stay in Boston, Massachusetts last night, March 21. 

The author wrote more than 20 works - some extremely critical of politicians and failed leadership in Africa. And his 1958 debut novel "Things Fall Apart" has sold more than 10 million copies world wide.

Rest in the bosom of the Lord, great writer of our time.

Next James Bond Movie Details Announced

James Bond fans will have to wait three years for the next installment of the spy franchise, it has been confirmed.
The follow-up to the award-winning Skyfall isn't due to hit cinema screens until 2016, according to MGM Studios.
A director for what will be the 24th film in the series is yet to be revealed.
Skyfall director Sam Mendes and Danny Boyle have so far ruled themselves out of the job, leaving Guy Ritchie as the favourite.
It is not yet known whether Daniel Craig will repeat his role as Bond. Fingers crossed.

Kim Kardashian 'To Hire Entire Hospital Floor For Baby Birth'

 

Kim Kardashian is allegedly planning to hire an entire floor at a hospital in Los Angeles for the birth of her first baby.
An insider told The Daily Star: "Kim's taking the preparations for childbirth very seriously. She wants everything to be perfect and, luckily for her, money is no object.
"Kim's been reading about how monumental the first few moments of a baby's life are and wants her child's entry to the world to be idyllic.
"They've booked an entire floor at their chosen hospital and her room will be totally sound-proofed before the delivery. She wants all outside influences and noise of traffic muted."

The source went on to add that Kardashian wants dimmed blue, green and purple lighting as she gives birth, adding: "Kim's read that mood lighting and atmosphere are important, so she plans to reflect the sounds of nature with a trickling water and soothing wind CD." Oh dear, all these just for giving birth?

Beyonce Makes Her Modelling Debut For High Street Store H&M

Earlier in the year, it was reported that Beyonce Knowles may be the new star face of H&M, here is the first look at the singer's debut campaign for the high street store.

The superstar songstress appears in the upcoming H&M high summer 2013 ads. The pictures were shot by photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadinand in the Bahamas, and in the first picture to be released can be seen looking as hot as ever as she reclines on a sun lounger on a sandy beach in Nassau wearing key pieces from the collection.

H&M's high summer 2013 collection will hit stores nationwide and the web from May.

Nigerian top blogger Linda Ikeji has replied Annie Idibia on the false news regarding her wedding dress.
Linda was supposedly the first to broke the news that Nigerian London-based designer Yemi Osunkoya of Kosibah designed Annie Idibia's wedding dress. According to the blogger, an insider from Annie's camp gave the wrong information. The post have since been taken down from Linda's blog. See her tweet below...

Children Hit The Mini Catwalk For The First Ever Global Kids’ Fashion Week in London

 
The first ever Global Kids’ Fashion Week (GKFW) held in London yesterday night at Freemason's Hall, Covent Garden.
The show, which was sponsored by designer e-tailer AlexandAlexa.com, had a fun and playful vibe as the professional child models took to the runway wearing designers such as Oscar De La Renta, Paul Smith, Gaultier and Missoni.
GKFW cast a spotlight on premium kids’ fashion, from both established designers and emerging names and aimed to educate and inspire people about children's fashion – celebrating how this specialist category has thrived and evolved over the past five years.  

Featured designers included the likes of luxury labels Paul Smith Junior, Junior Gaultier, Chloe, Little Marc Jacobs, I Pinco Pallino, Suzanne Ermann, Anne Kurris, Supertrash.

Dutch model Lara Stone has posed topless in her latest shoot for i-D Magazine, with just wine glasses covering her modesty.
The 29-year-old, who is currently expecting a baby with hubby David Williams, was perhaps displaying a larger bust as women tend to during pregnancy.

Staring at the camera, Lara looks a far cry from most waitresses as she is wearing nothing but a small white pinafore. In front of her chest she is holding a silver tray with the two strategically placed glasses of red wine, while her breasts are reflected in the shiny tray.

Damian Lewis Receives The Freedom Of The City Of London Award

Damian Lewis has been granted the freedom of the City of London.

The 'Homeland' star was presented with the honour in recognition of his acting achievements and as he was handed over the accolade at the Guildhall in the UK capital.

As he collected a certificate on behalf of the city, Damian said: "It's the most extraordinary honour to be offered the Freedom of the City of London - the city that I have grown up in, and love, more than any other. I'm very, very proud to be associated with it."

The freedom of the City of London accolade is believed to have started in 1237 and meant the recipient were free to carry out their chosen trade.

Justin Timberlake Dedicates Emotional Music Video For 'Mirrors' To His Grandparents

Justin Timberlake who recently made his musical comeback has finally unveiled the video to his no.1 smash hit Mirrors and the singer has paid tribute to his late grandfather William and grandmother Sadie in the touching intro.
 
The star's grandparents were married for 63 years and reports say that William's ill health sadly prevented him from attending Justin's wedding to Jessica Biel in October last year.

In the emotional video, an elderly couple look heartbroken and delicate as they flashback to their experiences together in younger years. At the start of the video, text shows a dedication granddad William - who died late last year - and grandmother Sadie Bomar. See the music video after the cut....
